In two weeks, the Mouth Cancer Foundation’s inaugural Mt Snowdon climb, led by our Ambassador and Professional Expedition Leader, Finlay Burke, will take place.
We have 21 participants signed up to take on Mt Snowdon, in Wales, on Saturday 29th August 2026. One of those is Jonathan Williams who is hoping to raise £250 for the Mouth Cancer Foundation.
Starting in Llanberis village, this 9-mile (14.5km) round-trip offers a steady, gradual ascent alongside the mountain railway, taking 5–7 hours. The Mouth Cancer Foundation is known for being the only charity in the UK to walk for Mouth Cancer. Trekking to the 1085m summit of Mt Snowdon is the perfect opportunity to give our supporters a more challenging walk.
As the highest peak in Wales and one of the most visited mountains in the country, it offers a real sense of achievement while still being accessible to walkers of all abilities. Along the way Finlay will stop to provide helpful hints and tips on navigating the mountains safely.
Our Ambassador and Mountain Lead, Finlay has combined his love of mountain climbing and fundraising for the Mouth Cancer Foundation as his Dad was diagnosed with mouth cancer, enduring challenging surgery and a lengthy recovery in 2022, Finlay now wants to continue trekking for mouth cancer and is looking for fundraisers to join him. Finlay says “2022 was an incredibly difficult time for our family. That experience changed my perspective. Snowdonia holds a special place in my heart. I’ve spent countless days there with my Dad since I was six years old, learning the mountains step by step until they felt like home. That’s why I’m so excited to guide others affected by mouth cancer on what was my very first day out in the hills, giving them the chance to experience the same sense of adventure, confidence, and joy that shaped my own journey”.
