Mouth Cancer Foundation President, Joss Harding, will take on the challenge of climbing Mount Snowdon on Saturday 29 August. Joss will be joined by close friend Natalie Emmerson, with the pair hoping their climb will not only raise vital funds but also encourage more people to recognise the signs and symptoms of mouth cancer and seek help early.
As a clinician who has spent many years treating and supporting people with head and neck cancer, Joss has seen first-hand the devastating impact the disease can have on patients and their loved ones.
“I have been privileged to treat and support many people living with head and neck cancer, as well as their caregivers, over many years,” said Joss.
“The journey can be brutal and life-changing, not only for those receiving a diagnosis, but also for the families, friends and caregivers supporting them throughout. “Early diagnosis is key. The earlier a cancer is identified, the sooner treatment and support can begin.”
Natalie says” the challenge has taken on an even deeper meaning following a personal family tragedy earlier this year.”
This fantastic organisation supports so many people. My lovely friend is the President of this charity and I hear so much about how they raise awareness of mouth and neck cancer, support patients and their families, and provide equipment to help diagnose and treat these cancers.
“On a personal note, having had a family tragedy earlier this year, I decided to grab every opportunity to live life, set challenges, practise gratitude and try to make a little difference. Climbing Snowdon will do all of those things, and if you are able to spare a few pennies to sponsor me, together we can make a difference.”
The pair hope every step up Snowdon will help raise awareness of mouth cancer and ensure more people receive the support they need throughout their cancer journey.
