Assistant Bioengineering Professor Manu Prakash from Stanford University in America has developed an oral cavity scanner, Oscan, which can be attached to any smartphone’s built-in camera to take a high-resolution, panoramic image of a person’s complete mouth cavity. Images can then easily be sent wirelessly to health workers, dentists or oral surgeons around the world for diagnosis.

We’re all for this one.  On 14th April we read on that Professor Martin Thornhill from the University of Sheffield is working with researchers from Rice University in America to create a revolutionary test that will help dentists diagnose oral cancer in less than 20 minutes.

The Mouth Cancer Foundation launches a brand new website at  Find a wealth of information on all aspects of head and neck cancer, merchandise and upcoming events.

The walk is a huge success and has raised almost £200,000 in the six years it has been running.  Money raised from the walk goes towards helping raise awareness and much needed funds for head and neck cancer patients.

Dr Vinod Joshi, who founded the Mouth Cancer Foundation in June 2004 as a professional support organization dedicated to helping people with throat mouth and other head and neck cancers deal with the crisis of cancer is now assisting with the setting up of a clinic for oral care of patients with special care needs and with mouth cancer awareness campaigns and improving support for mouth cancer
