WORLD IMMUNIZATION WEEK 24TH TO 30TH APRIL 2019
The World Health Organisation has declared the last week in April World Immunization Week, which aims to highlight the collective action needed to ensure that every person is protected from vaccine preventable diseases. This year’s theme is ‘Protected Together’ #vaccine’swork. It encourages people at every level from donors to the general public to go further in their efforts to increase immunisation coverage for the greater good.
Here at the Mouth Cancer Foundation we encourage support for all boys to be vaccinated against the human papilloma virus, (HPV), which causes 5% of all cancers. It is also presenting itself as a new dominant causative factor of mouth cancer. Currently girls are vaccinated against HPV, but boys are not. We are encouraging everyone to use the week to support the campaign to have boys vaccinated.
