Yesterday, Charity Media Consultant, Elizabeth Laverack, had the pleasure of attending a cheque presentation at Lochinver House School in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire to receive a substantial £5000 donation to the charity.

Each year the school chooses three charities and the year 8 boys spend their time come up with creative ways to raise funds throughout the academic year.  In 2017/2018 the Mouth Cancer Foundation, along with Crohn’s and Colitis UK and Great Ormond Street Hospital were the beneficiaries.

The Mouth Cancer Foundation was nominated by Ted and Henry in September 2017.  They had lost their great grandmother, Ellen to mouth cancer and wanted to do something special in her honour.  Before the charity was chosen, Ted and Henry had to present the reason why the Mouth Cancer Foundation should be chosen to first, their classmates and then the whole school.  Luckily for us, the school voted for their presentation.

Elizabeth says “I was thrilled to be invited to the school to receive the cheque.  I was overwhelmed by the presentations from the boys and the efforts they had gone to since September last year.  They have been busy during the year organising events at school fairs, bag packing in their local supermarkets, taking part in a sponsored walk around London landmarks, persuading their Mums’ to make endless cakes to sell in their tuck shop and coming up with all manner of creative ways to raise money.  It is a wonderful idea for the school to get the pupils so involved in community initiatives and fundraising on this scale”.

Thank you and well done year 8 at Lochinver House School!
