Join Our 1st Mouth Cancer Awareness Day

The Mouth Cancer Foundation is holding its brand new 1st Mouth Cancer Awareness Day on Wednesday 18th September 2013.

In 2011 Mouth Cancer Awareness Day was successfully launched in Ireland by the Mouth Cancer Awareness Group. Members of the public are encouraged to visit dentists participating in the scheme for a FREE mouth cancer screening. The Mouth Cancer Foundation has launched its Mouth Cancer Screening Accreditation Scheme which encourages all dental practices to carry out thorough head and neck cancer screenings at routine check-ups. Mouth Cancer Awareness Day ties in with the ethos of the Mouth Cancer Screening Accreditation Scheme so with permission of the Mouth Cancer Awareness Group we are launching the first Mouth Cancer Awareness Day in the UK.

Dentists have a key role to play in the early detection of mouth cancer and in prevention of the disease by identifying those patients who are exposed to risk factors.

We are therefore asking all dental practices to get involved by signing up to give members of the public FREE mouth cancer examinations at dental practices across the country on Wednesday 18th September 2013.

If you would like to take part in the initiative, please email us via info@mouthcancerfoundation.org.  Only by working together we can beat mouth cancer.
