Mouth Cancer Foundation Peoples’ Ambassadors, Pat and Colin Jones, recently held their annual golf tournament, The Golf Team Challenge, at Condover Golf Club in Shrewsbury.  Once again, the Clare Memorial Cup was up for grabs.

24 Teams battled it out around the bunkers, raising over £2900 in the process.    All the fun was had in Clare’s memory.  Twelve years ago, Pat and Colin’s beloved daughter, died of tongue cancer at the age of just 23 years old.   The Golf tournament is becoming an annual event where family and friends come together to celebrate Clare’s life and try to raise awareness about mouth cancer so others hopefully won’t go through what they have.

Pat says “We had a brilliant day on Friday with the golf tournament.  Our best one to date.  This year the weather was great, so much better than last year’s game in Storm Callum.  The course was in excellent condition and some good scores were recorded with the top teams only separated by a few points.  A mixed team of Ade Price, Mo Griffiths, Jan Steggles and Ray Sant won with a score of 91.  The Golf Day is growing stronger each year with more people taking part and more importantly to us as a family we brought awareness to mouth cancer.  We hope to be able to hold this competition as long as possible with our two grandsons waiting to be old enough to take part!  We are very grateful for the continued support from so many people.   It is a great way for us all to remember Clare”.
