DENTIST IN THE DESERT FOR MOUTH CANCER FOUNDATION
Dr Bob To has been working at Blueberry Dental Surgery in Bracknell for over 14 years. During that time he has detected 14 cases of cancer.
Determined to raise awareness of the disease, on 5th April 2019, Bob will be taking part in the ultra, Marathon Des Sables race. It has been described as the ‘Toughest Footrace on Earth’. In just 6 days he will attempt to run, walk and crawl over 250 KM (156 miles) through the Sahara Desert, self-sufficient, and carrying all food and equipment for the week in his rucksack.
He has been training consistently for some time now, yet this will still be the most demanding and gruelling thing he has ever done in his life. He hopes to raise a whopping £5000 for the Mouth Cancer Foundation.
Bob says “I am looking forward to embarking on this life-changing epic adventure. Mouth cancer is one of the few diseases that is becoming more widespread. Early detection has helped these patients to make an amazing recovery and go on to enjoy their future. I want to raise money for the Mouth Cancer Foundation, for the great work that they have done, so that everyone can benefit from early detection and receive the best treatment available”.
