CALLING ALL PARTNERS OF CANCER SURVIVORS FOR UNIVERSITY SURVEY

The Mouth Cancer Foundation has been contacted by a trainee Clinical Psychologist based at the University of Liverpool who is carrying out research looking into fear of cancer recurrence in partners of cancer survivors.

The aim of this study is to better understand how psychological factors can contribute to worry in partners of cancer survivors.  Participants (partners aged 18+) will be asked to complete a survey either online or using pen and paper.  The survey consists of various questions looking at emotional distress, fear of cancer recurrence, and beliefs about illness and worry.

The research will hopefully add to our knowledge and further our understanding as to why some individuals may experience greater levels of fear of cancer recurrence.  This in turn may help to improve the support already available to partners of cancer survivors.

If you are a partner of someone who has had cancer please consider taking part in this University of Liverpool study, which aims to better understand fear of cancer recurrence for partners.  For more information, contact Louise O'Rourke on l.o-rourke@liverpool.ac.uk.
