April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month in the USA. Close to 49,750 Americans will be diagnosed with oral cancer this year, that’s 132 new people every day. Of those newly diagnosed individuals, only slightly more than half will be alive in 5 years. This is a number which has not significantly improved in decades.

In the UK over 8200 people are diagnosed with mouth cancer every year and around 60,000 people will be diagnosed over the next decade. Worldwide the disease affects 650,000 people a year and it’s the 6th most common type of cancer.

We are supporting Oral Cancer Awareness Month and asking everyone to be vigilant about early signs of mouth cancer. Make sure you take time to Bite Back at Mouth Cancer and carry out a simple screening check on yourself.
