From today, one of the UK’s leading mouth cancer charities, The Mouth Cancer Foundation, will benefit from the opening of a brand new restaurant, Indu’s, on London Road, Twickenham. Restaurant owners Sunny and Kamni Dhown could think of no other charity that they would prefer to support when their restaurant opens as they know first hand how awful mouth cancer can be.

The Mouth Cancer Foundation is once again providing free mouth cancer screening to the public at the annual Mouth Cancer Awareness Walk on 18th September 2010. The specialist screening team is lead by members of the Oral Medicine Department of the Eastman Dental Institute and the Department of Community Special Care Dentistry, King's College London.

Step out and save lives from mouth cancer. People from all across the UK are stepping out to support the UK's leading mouth cancer charity, the Mouth Cancer Foundation, by taking part in their 4th annual FREE 10 Km sponsored walk later in the year.

The Mouth Cancer Foundation is calling for a reduction in the current daily alcohol intake safety guidelines following a study from the National Cancer Institute in Paris* which found one unit of alcohol, the equivalent of half a small 175ml glass of wine per day increases the risk of developing mouth cancer by 168%.

A new European wide survey*, out today at the International Conference on Innovative Approaches in Head & Neck Oncology (ICHNO), reveals the UK lags behind Europe in the awareness of one of the world's most common cancers. As a result the Mouth Cancer Foundation is calling for more to be done when it comes to improving the symptom awareness and diagnosis of mouth cancer.

Today, the country's leading mouth cancer charity, the Mouth Cancer Foundation is throwing a lifeline to mouth cancer patients, carers and survivors by launching a new telephone support helpline - 01924 950 950. From May 2008.

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has today issued a preliminary positive recommendation (Appraisal Consultation Document) for the use of cetuximab (Erbitux®) in combination with radiotherapy for the treatment of locally advanced head and neck cancer.

Sam Harrison from Hastings knows first hand the devastating effect Mouth Cancer can have after seeing his friend Michelle Morton suffer with the shocking cancer killer last year. Now Sam is competing in the Hastings half marathon to raise money and awareness of Mouth Cancer and its symptoms.

Today, the Founder of the Mouth Cancer Foundation, Dr Vinod Joshi, paid tribute to one of Britain’s best known broadcasters and writers, Ned Sherrin, who has died from throat Cancer. “I was very sad to learn of the death of Ned Sherrin, such an inspiring comedy writer and broadcaster from Throat Cancer. He will be greatly missed”.

Hundreds of people from all across the country turned out to support a Free 10K sponsored walk in London’s Hyde Park on Sunday 19 November organised by the Mouth Cancer Foundation to raise awareness about Mouth Cancer in a grand finale to Mouth Cancer Awareness Week.
