September 16th is Mouth Cancer Awareness Day in Ireland. This campaign is run by the Mouth Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Ireland Group. Each year they aim to promote public and professional awareness of Mouth Head and Neck Cancer.
There are over 700 cases of mouth, head and neck cancer diagnosed every year in Ireland, this figure has steadily increased each year.
University College Cork will be hosting a conference for Mouth Cancer Awareness on Wednesday 15th September. This year one of our wonderful ambassadors, Katie Caines will be speaking on behalf of the Mouth Cancer Foundation during a talk from the digital dental learning platform, Immersify Education, on her experiences with mouth cancer, both from a dental team member perspective and closer to home living through her Dad’s journey with the disease.
